The Francesco Cavazza Institute for the Blind in Bologna mourns the loss of and remembers with deepest gratitude and emotion Senator Giancarlo Pasquini, a director and generous benefactor of the Institute.

A man of great moral and civil integrity, Senator Pasquini merged his political and cultural commitment with sincere dedication to our Institute, to which, among other things, he made a generous contribution of twenty million lire deriving from damages obtained after a favorable ruling in a defamation suit.

Giancarlo Pasquini

Over the years, Giancarlo was a donor, director, auditor, and most of all a close friend of the Institute, motivated by a deep sense of duty, solidarity, and social equity. A man of great moral rectitude, he had a passion for sailing – a symbol of freedom and adventure. One of his favorite hobbies was building splendid model ships, an expression of his sensitivity and of his love of the sea. He donated one of his most beautiful creations to Cavazza: his model of the Amerigo Vespucci, proudly on display in the rooms of the residence.

With great emotion, I still remember our visit to his home, where he entertained us for hours, showing us and letting me touch countless parts of the Vespucci, and telling us in detail about his passion for the sea and for model ships.

To his daughter Elisabetta, everyone at the Cavazza Institute sends their sincerest condolences and gratitude, with the pledge to preserve the memory and the example of Giancarlo Pasquini, who combined public ethics with personal generosity.
