Mayor Virginio Merola awards diplomas to the graduates who completed the 2011 operator course.

The Mayor of Bologna, Mr.Virginio Merola, stayed for over an hour at the Istituto Cavazza for an intense visit during which he awarded the 2011 operator course graduates their diplomas.
His voice was filled with emotion when he recalled his companionship during his high school years with Egidio Sosio who is now the Institute's Vocational Training Coordinator.
President Borra brought attention to the value of the diploma awarded each year to about twenty blind and visually impaired students, enabling them to find work even in times of difficult economic crisis such as those we are now experiencing.
Mayor Merola visited the Institute's classrooms, facilities and didactic areas, and explored with much interest the tridimensional reproductions of the tactile museum, discovering a painting with his fingers.
During the visit were present, among others, the President of Bologna's Italian Blind Union, Andrea Prantoni who also spoke briefly asking the Mayor to pay special attention to the mobility issues of people living with vision loss, and encouraged the young students to pursue their commitment towards full social integration through a personal and renewed dedication to their studies and work.
